Things I Might Have Tweeted (April, part deux)

Frankly, it's criminal that SCOTUS doesn't have a daytime round-table talk show.

Feminist: "Work sucks!"
Nobody: "..."
Feminist: "It must be because I'm a woman!"

🏳️‍⚧️: “I was born this way.”
Reality: “But you weren’t.”

In a way, everyone who has died since January 6 has died as a result of the insurrection.

~~~
Very unfortunate when the source of your conspiracy theory is the truth.
~~~

You may not like it, but this is what de-escalation looks like.

~~~
When you declare the police the bad guys, only the bad guys will join the police.
~~~

I don't personally like Texas, but I recognize the need for Texas.

~~~
What we are witnessing across-the-board is an effort to push the adage of "history is written by the victors" to its end by simply declaring victory by writing a history.
~~~

When anyone says "I ♥ Public Schools" what they're really saying is  "I ♥ Systemic Racism"

~~~
It’s risky to start getting too concerned with social constructs when you’re a social animal. You don’t see bees deconstructing hives.
~~~

Whether is far less pertinent than how, but people sure are quick to duck behind 'whether' when others object to their 'how.'

~~~
The objective of the adage "history is written by the victors" is to simply declare victory by writing a history.
~~~

Nazi and Soviet propaganda were clumsy, at best, but not according to the propaganda that every schoolchild receives. Meanwhile, very few recognize the name Edward Bernays. Eddy is probably fine with that.

~~~
12 Angry Men, but Juror 5 is a former cop.
~~~

You were primed for riots and got something less, and that makes it look like unity.

~~~
One party is trash and the other party is a bin of recyclables that will probably end up in the dump anyway because everything is run by the trash company.
~~~

Please, sir, may I celebrate independence?

Why does the press go after just one $10 donor? It's not that they lack ability to dox every small donor. It's that they know if they do, it'll create a cascade against them. But picking off a rando here and there keeps the herd scared.

Rewatching the 90s X-Men cartoon and this is anti-trans propaganda.

Dr. Fauci or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Virus

The government will universalize healthcare yet continue to subsidize the sugar and HFCS industries. Because government.

For my retirement plan to work, I only need enough money for a blindfold and one cigarette.

  1. Always nice to see these! Here goes...

    1. For the entertainment value, if nothing else.

    2. Or any other grievance group for that matter.

    3. Very true. The parents dealing with hormonal, crazy teens threatening suicide if they don't get irreversible surgery and hormone treatments make me glad that my only kids are of the fur variety...

    4. Wait, you mean people are dying of things other than the Kung Flu now? Heresy!

    5. Indeed, nothing discredits the true part faster than crazies latching on to it and getting broadcasted everywhere while the other side's crazies are swept under the rug or held up as virtuous. *Sigh*

    6. Except of course when others take that as an invitation to escalate up to 11.

    7. That's what you call a self-fulfilling idiocy.

    8. Heh, they do know how to stir the pot down there don't they? I've thought about moving there on and off but I haven't been too impressed with Abbot's wishy-washiness on a lot of things and I'm more than a bit leery of how many unassimilated Californians have moved there. If it ends up becoming Texifornia it's Game Over.

    9. Yep, and I'm not sure they're going to find someone (or several someones) effective to show them they're really the losers and make it stick.

    10. Heh, good one. Reminds me of how galling it was to see the whole Stop Asian Hate virtue signaling when that's one group they'll happily screw on college admissions, even if that's a different, and not always public, part of the system.

    11. Chesterton's Fence is a greatly underappreciated concept indeed.

    12. The reason "If you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with BS" keeps sticking around is because it works, sadly.

    13. See 9.

    14. That's a name worth studying indeed from what little I saw when I looked him up. I'd definitely be interested in a post and/or some quality references on him.

    15. That has potential, though it'd end up just another anti-police smear in modern Hollywood of course.

    16. The sneaky rhetorical crap these people get up to...

    17. That's what happens when the people dealing with the garbage get fed up to their limit.

    18. Nein!, if the regime has its way. Or would that be 不 with this bunch? Of course if America decides it doesn't care what they think it's party on!

    19. You're not the only one who's said something to that effect and it's sickening to see that sort of thing happen with no repercussions for the people who do it. And people wonder why they're openly totalitarian now...

    20. Someone would think that, wouldn't they? My memories of that cartoon are fuzzy, though I think I remember something about curing mutations. Or was that the comics and how Apocalypse pretending to do that ended up being a way to recruit mutants for his Dark Riders? Side note, this is how Angel became Archangel in the comics.

    21. He's definitely blown his credibility with a lot of people, huh? I only ever saw one person double up on masks and she quickly dropped it. Not that it's going to stop the government from shoving his senile recommendations delivered with that (cat dropping)-eating grin of course...

    22. Of course. I did read someone else recently note that paying for other people's bad decisions through taxes might make for another good angle to argue against that abomination from. Think it could work with the public if framed right?

    23. So say we all these days.

  2. 4. Oh, man! I need to check into a reeducation camp!

    6. People say "deescalation" like it's some magic spell. The reality is, it takes two to deescalate. While the person who is willing to take some lumps in the interest of not increasing violence is commendable, the closest he's getting to deescalation is letting the other guy wear himself out.

    8. Really, what I most dislike about Texas is, I suppose, what the rest of the world dislikes about Americans: their braggadociousness. And, frankly, their TexMex sucks.

    13. I seem to have made the same observation twice. LOL

    14. Add Ivy Lee to the same list as Edward Bernays. But Bernays is really the guy to scrutinize. Lee is on par with the Nazis and Soviets.

    15. Hint: the implication goes beyond the Juror.

    20. LOL! I was thinking about it more along the lines of the mutant characters telling each other to accept themselves the way they were born. (See #2)

    21. You thinkin' Fauci suffers from toxoplasmosis?

    23. BSG. Nice!

  3. 5. Indeed, which goes back to your old observation about unilateral deescalation.

    8. They are proud of their state, aren't they? Let's hope that pride can hold against the Californication taking place there.

    13. These things happen, especially in this format!

    14. I'll look that name up if I ever get any time to do so, too. It should make for interesting reading to pass around elsewhere if nothing else.

    15. I figured it did; it's just the mists of time and brain fog from overwork are keeping me from grasping them.

    20. Oh, right, forgot about that part and good point. See mists of time and brain fog, though I do remember that the first episode I watched had Beast in jail with him declining Magneto's invitation to break him out.

    21. Well, it's a more generous interpretation of his contradictions and such than him being a never-was desperately clinging to relevance...

    23. Never saw it, actually, just agreeing with the sentiment since if things really do reach the level of The Unspeakable that'll likely be my retirement plan too and I'm not sure which side will be "awarding" it to me.
