A Slap in the Face

The joke is that voters were given the choice between an angry, addled, lazy, lying, treacherous, self-serving, quarrelsome, foul-mouthed, racist, sexist, bigoted, narcissistic, septuagenarian old white man and Donald Trump.

I want to revisit an earlier post because not everyone fully appreciates what has happened. 
If the nomination and apparent election of Joe Biden to the presidency feels like a slap in the face, that’s because it is.

The article above lays it out, but the title says it all. Joe Biden is in actuality everything Democrats, #NeverTrump, #TheResistance, and the Swamp have accused Donald Trump of being for the last five years.

Whether Trump is any of those things is immaterial, so leave it aside.

Biden’s nomination and apparent election serve to demonstrate unambiguously something regular (not beltway) conservatives have known and complained about for years: It doesn’t matter how offensive someone is if they are on the right team, the Democrats’ team.

Dems put up an angry, stupid, narcissistic, racist, sexist, bigoted, thieving, traitorous, foul-mouthed, rich old white man to replace a supposedly angry, stupid, narcissistic, racist, sexist, bigoted, thieving, traitorous, foul-mouthed, rich old white man just to show they can.

(Democrats’ only principle is power, and the fact that a fair chunk of the “principled” conservative intelligencia threw in with them early and loudly only reveals what they always meant by that word.)

You stupid rubes thought you’d figured it out. You thought sending someone to Washington who is just as nasty as Democrats are could change things. You didn’t learn when RINOs blocked Trump for 2 years and you still didn’t learn when a year got squandered to impeachment...

And you STILL didn’t learn when Dems didn’t let the Covid crisis go to waste, blaming everything that the rest of the world was facing solely on Trump in this country. Not to mention blaming Trump for their own missteps and power grabs while excusing their own riot squads.

Maybe, while Dems talk a pretty piece about unity with the same mouth that spewed bilious slander against you days ago at the same time as they talk of making lists for pogroms and all you can do is wonder which way they’ll break, maybe you’ll learn before they decide.

Romney’s Pro-Life Position Not So New

Also: Say hello to the “Sev-Con” There’s a NYTimes article out over the weekend that is all the buzz today. The pull-quote du jour is by former Mitt Romney strategist Mike Murphy, who told National Review in 2005 that Romney "is a pro-life Mormon faking it as a pro-choice friendly." The preferred pick-apart is that this proves Romney will say and do anything to get elected. And, I admit, it certainly sounds damning. If nothing less, it was a poor choice of words. The Gaffe that Almost Wasn’t

The smear campaign against Cain continues   By now the internet, radio, television, and wagging tongues everywhere are all abuzz over the latest campaign blunder by Herman Cain. But is it really the gaffe everyone says it is? Or was it a selective editing job a la Ed Shultz ? Well, call me cynical, but I’ve seen enough media shenanigans to be suspicious of anything taken out of context and this definitely tripped my radar. In the clip that has gone viral (below), Cain does appear to be caught off-guard by a question on Libya, a topic he ought to have been ready for. My first reaction was to wonder how many clips like this land on editing room floors instead of online. In a world used to hyper-slick video and equally slick candidates, a moment of thought gathering can seem disastrous.
